A Woman Unto Herself

Hello,

A woman unto herself deeply knows herself. She’s clear in her head. Not knocked around by imperfection. Completely over overthinking. Says what she means and means what she says. Could care less about age spurts (which you have when you no longer have growth spurts) because she’s so grateful to be alive. Living by this every single day.

Living in a sacred state but not chaste at all. She’s driven by her own urges. Aware of her preferences. Independent, discerning and undivided. Self-aware but she doesn’t sit on her self-awareness. She’s spirited. Spiritually in touch and in touch with her desires. A woman aligned.

This is my aspirational version of Virgo. Very aspirational.

This is the Virgo role model I’ve been guided by this past month. An inspiring ideal of a woman whom all of our work this eclipse season has been leading us to. A woman who is true to herself, and yet she knows there’s always room for improvement. Always some self-reflection to devote herself to.

As we head into tomorrow’s second Virgo New Moon and our final eclipse for the season, how is your wise woman showing up for you? Where has she been leading you? And what is she asking of you?

Where does your inner Virgo sit on the self-improvement spectrum?

Are you diving in and leaning into the discomfort? Or do you feel resistance around self-reflection and want to rest your head instead? Maybe you’ve found your growth edge. Can you feel her, quietly breathing beneath you?

Kindly respect your process and meet yourself where you are.

Virgo wants to understand herself so badly. To do better, be better. But let’s be real, this eclipse season has asked a lot of many of us. Asking for a lot of understanding. And quite possibly a lot of not knowing where to put that understanding. Thankfully, the New Moon will help sort that out.

By their very nature, eclipses draw us inward to see what needs to be seen. Fractals of light come together and expose internal truths, illuminating truths, possibly uncomfortable truths. What’s so interesting about these recent eclipse revelations is that they’re probably not new information for you. They’re ancient collective threads that have had a through line throughout your life. Now pulling up stuck Virgo South Node stuff and drawing you towards compassionate Pisces North Node wisdom.

These eclipsing Nodes are our guiding lights for self-love and self-improvement. A Pisces~Virgo wet dream.

Get Dirty

As we close out this eclipse season you might be feeling very wet. Deep in the muck. Reduced to the juice, the essence of the eclipse space. Possibly feeling eclipsed in the dark in-between. Getting glimpses of light but not enough to see your way out. And that’s kind of the point.

Everything about this time is unclear. We’re transitioning but the transformation can’t come fast enough. Essentially, we’ve forgotten how to change. That it’s a process of getting dirty before we get clean. Of growth and stretch marks and discomfort before we bloom.

A metamorphosis has to happen, like a caterpillar entering a cocoon. And we’re in it.

Last year when I was preparing to share my workshop The Source for perimenopausal and menopausal women I heard Dr Jimi Wollumbin speak on Jody Vassalo’s podcast Changing Seasons. The beautiful, sensitive way Jimi spoke about women entering their late 40s and 50s was so evocative and applies to this period we’re in now too, regardless of your age.

He explained that before we can rebirth into our next stage of life we have to break down the previous version of our younger self. We do this by saying goodbye and entering our own internal birth canal. And like caterpillars cocooning, we form a chrysalis, sucking all of our energy back inside us.

On the outside it looks like nothing much is happening. But inside is where it’s at ~ butterfly wings don’t magically grow out of the caterpillar, just like we don’t magically grow into our new selves. Instead, the caterpillar digests everything it’s experienced and then dissolves, turning into mush, a liquid soup. Right now, we’re swimming in that soup. Just as the caterpillar doesn’t resemble itself anymore, we don’t feel completely ourselves either. But it’s from this caterpillar smoothie that tiny, teeny imaginal cells (seriously, this is a scientific term) are created and from these cells the butterfly’s body begins to form.

It’s a grounding and humbling process, but we too can hold what our next iteration will be in our imagination. Even when it feels hard and every part of us resists change, think of those imaginal cells inside you, waiting to become your wisest self.

Clean Up

How can we honour this period when we’re feeling lost in the liminal unknown?

We do what any good Virgo would do. We surrender, press pause and take time to tidy. Whether it’s your home, your mind, your relationship, your work, accept there’s uncertainty and simply pay attention to what needs refining.

You’ll see the answer is right there in front of you. In the messy bedsheets, inside your mental junk drawer, while you’re in the shower getting clean. Just commit to paring everything back and getting clear. When we drown out the noise, we find what works and the elusive clues we’ve been searching for.

You can still hold your vision, but actual change won’t happen there. Change is created right now, in the present ~ not in the ruminating past and not future tripping forward. We become the change when we actively participate in our lives. We then don’t have to wait for anyone to give us a green light because we can find our own way ahead.

Wherever Virgo falls in your chart, go full Virgo.

You’ll find you’re a natural there. Have you noticed nature? It’s busy, in a very deliberate, mindful, connected way. Not so active that it’s avoidant, or a slave to itself. It’s in flow. You’ll really start helping yourself ~ practically and energetically ~ when you get out of your head and into your flow.

What do you naturally gravitate to for support? Think of the practices, rituals and routines you turn to daily without thinking. These habits are your liferaft. They don’t need to be perfect. This is Virgo’s biggest lesson ~ don’t deny yourself the opportunity to feel more or do more because you’re waiting for perfection.

Just let some rhythm into your life. Daily constancy regulates you, giving excellent feedback that you’re aligned and on your right track. Committing to what works is so freeing ~ it eliminates distraction and sets you up for what you really want to focus on. This is your eclipse practice. Practice being the operative word.

You Are Here

We’ve arrived. Our second Virgo New Moon for the season. And a partial Solar Eclipse*. What a growth period this has been.

I really like this New Moon. It does ask for our attention, possibly to the point of distraction, but I think we’re on track for this. We’ve levelled up in so many ways.

This New Moon is poised at 29º, the absolute final degree of Virgo. It’s the embodiment of all of Virgo, wise woman energy at her most understanding, accepting and critical best. Our first New Moon in Virgo was at 0º ~ remember that starter, baby Virgo energy? ~ so fresh, ripe and new. Well, we’ve aged a bit this eclipse season. Maturing and evolving, facing ourselves and our uncertainty, and still we stayed the course.

We might feel done with self-awareness but this eclipse tells us there’s some final work to do. What needs to be addressed will be blindingly obvious, illuminating and even supercharged. You’ll want to face this stuff head on instead of obsessing over it and feeling victim to it. The gift is the good grace, composure and elevated way you can deal with it now. This is the seriously juicy part, where the alchemy happens. The essential work ~ where you can get really intentional ~ starts here.

This is not a tough love New Moon. It’s a catalysing and motivating Moon you’ll feel compelled to attend to. Respond to what feels messy and you’ll find your way to a brilliant guide rope. Hold on and trust it will lead you to your next course of action, one that’s right for you.

I’m questioning my next moves. I want to engage more directly, be in actual conversation with you. I’m not sure how that will look outside of my consultations and writing. Possibly teaching, more workshops or stewarding people through longer-term support. Who knows but it’s time to explore new directions. I’m diving deep into my dreams for guidance but if you have any ideas for how I can support you, let me know!

What has been staring you in the face lately?

What course of action do you feel drawn to yet know there’s more work to do?

We all want to commit to what’s best for us and be on our way. This Virgo New Moon is your golden eclipse opportunity to start afresh and get your inner wise woman into gear. You’re so far ahead of yourself now, make this one count.

Love,

Kristin xxx

PS: The Virgo New Moon will be exact at 5.54am AEST on 22 September, and 12.54pm Pacific Time and 8.54pm GMT on 21 September. If you can sit with this one and stay as present as you can, I highly recommend it. There will be so much to see internally and digest.

* For a New Moon, the Sun and Moon are in perfect alignment. A partial Solar Eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth but the line-up isn’t exact ~ a sliver of Sun will be visible. As eclipses go, this one is still mega and very potent.
