A Softer State of Mind

Hello,

Are you heading for a softer place? One that’s pure and simple, easeful? That’s where I want to be on this Virgo Full Moon. It’s such a delicate time, eclipse time, always major life-ing happening. We’re processing and integrating astrologically, psychologically, energetically and soulfully. So many factors affecting our current state of mind. Personally, collectively and globally.

We’re also in Pisces’ pool, intuitively swimming in our seas of shared experience, navigating wave after sensitive wave. Feeling as though we’re on the edge of our futures and like we might be swallowed if we don’t keep up with our heads held high. Do we plough on and risk swimming in circles, or should we let go, trusting we’ll find our flow and our flow will find us?

Your head will tell you to hold on. Feel around for your intuition ~ it’s asking for surrender.

Your Head Space

There’s a lot for your head to carry right now and only so much capacity to truly understand what you are holding. The clarity just isn’t here. What is clear is that you’re not meant to know yet. That doesn’t feel very helpful, I know.

What’s happening is your thinking function (Mercury) and ability to receive and perceive information is timing out and taking a break. It’s simply not possible to absorb everything and as we gear up for this year ~ the beginning of major change ~ our collective powers of concentration need to reset and recalibrate.

The more we try to stay in the noise, the louder the noise will feel.

The idea is to embrace the pause and accept some mindful slowing and quietening down. Retrograding through Pisces from 26 February to 20 March, your gaze will naturally want to turn inward on a kind of personal pilgrimage to your innerscapes and dreamscapes. Ideally, this is a rich and imaginative period for you. Even if it isn’t entirely restful, your insights and visions are likely to be extra vivid and your intuitive hits stronger.

Pisces is incredibly intuitive and wonderfully dreamy and poetic. Its ability to feel and empathise is very powerful, but what it taps into can also be potentially overwhelming. Any time we’re thinking in Pisces that receptivity can turn into anxiety if we drift too far away and don’t look after our personal and energetic boundaries. As much as you can, allow space to reflect, clear, meditate and contemplate the impressions you’re receiving. Even if you can only manage five minutes of conscious awareness, your mind will be thankful.

Inner Sight Exposed

Eclipse season is the season for increased illumination and insight. With the Sun in Pisces, the Full Moon in Virgo and the Earth precisely in between projecting its shadow onto the Moon, our vision might be cloudy but our inner sight is clocking exactly what needs our attention.

Mercury, retrograding through Pisces, is the ruler of this Virgo Full Moon. For many of us, the lead up is likely to have been very exacting on the mind. With the lunar eclipse combined, your first thought is not necessarily your most accurate one right now, especially if you have a tendency to overthink. Virgo is the interpreter extraordinaire with an eagle eye that can process data like no other. But if her analysis isn’t grounded and channelled directly into positive action, her thought process can go into overdrive and she can fixate herself into a very entangled state. With my Virgo Sun, Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus tightly woven into my 9th house (where we search for beliefs and find our truth), I’m an expert overthinker so maintaining a watchful eye on my concerns has been imperative this week.

If you’re feeling in the dark and can share your thoughts with someone, anyone, or write out your fears in a journal, I strongly encourage it.

For me, writing my ‘overthoughts’ out of my mind is essential, daily. I have no desire to manifest what I’m currently concerned about into actuality. Committing my concerns to some kind of text is a productive form of catharsis I can do for myself ~ by engaging my mind actively, I short circuit the spiralling process and my thoughts have somewhere meaningful to go.

We don’t have to keep a lid on everything. Some things aren’t easy to share but opening up to the page or with someone you trust relieves the pressure of keeping your deepest fears to yourself and trying to maintain the pretence you are perfect.

Yes, my darlings, we are human and perfectly imperfect.

Your Virgo Full Moon Blessing

This Full Moon is a huge full body reminder that you don’t have to hold yourself so tightly. Wherever you are gripping and restricting and working hard to maintain your never-ending perfectionistic patterns, you’re being asked to release and let go.

There are infinite places your mind wants to go ~ very real, pressing situations are calling ~ but there’s only so much you can do until all the pieces are exposed. While you wait, will you fall back on your patterns, the critical nature you so rely on, the routines and habits that have served you…until they didn’t, and might just be getting in your way?

Lunar eclipses always involve the South Node. And with the South Node in Virgo ~ the originator of these improving and overdoing, analysing and paralysing patterns ~ our inner critic’s health state is exposed. Although it’s uncomfortable, at our deepest level we know there’s no finding our way forward until we clean ourselves up.

This lunar eclipse is your blessing to surrender your patterns in support of your mind and body.

This Virgo Full Moon, with the most graceful arc of planets in Pisces opposite, is encouraging us to consider how we can mentally and physically support ourselves so we can sustainably continue on our path. Where is the ideal place for your mind to be? And what is the healthiest, most nurturing way to take yourself there?

Virgo delights in ritual. Sustainable rituals that lift you up and don’t have you falling flat.

What are the practices that work for you? All the things you do daily and automatically. Keeping in mind that just because you always do them, doesn’t mean they’re right for you. Maybe a routine has outgrown its purpose, perhaps it never agreed with you. Some food for thought, our rituals are often healthy, habits not so much.

What really paralyses us is when we get involved in practices that work against our nature, getting lost in overexpectation and pushing our potential away. I’m doing a thorough assessment of my work and life practices. If they’re not supportive or sustainable, I’m reassessing my relationship to them, even if it means slightly shifting in other more realistic directions. I’m not sure exactly how that will look but it feels like the right thing to do ~ and the most compassionate act of service I can offer myself and the people I want to be here for.

You’ll be involved in your own version of surrender, a letting go that you’ve been devoted to, and held onto, that you no longer need. It might feel intense or even tiring as you integrate this, but it’s making way for a more thoughtful, considered version of you that accurately reflects your integrity, dignity and self-worth.

A radical act that will ultimately put your mind at ease.

Love,

Kristin xxx

PS: The Full Moon will be at its fullest on 3 March at 10.38pm AEST, 3.38am PT and 11.38am GMT. At 12º Virgo, any planets that come close or connect from Gemini, Sagittarius or Pisces will feel it most. Wherever Virgo lives in your natal chart, you’ll have the urge to let go. Use your active imagination to look to Pisces opposite for wisdom and inspiration.
