Ignite Your Mind

Hello,

Open your eyes wide my loves. Take it all in because this is the Gemini season where the world gets brighter, bolder, faster and more inspired. Things are really happening and if you think you’re already awake and on to it, you’re in for a surprise. We’re only just beginning to accelerate.

What’s majorly fuelling our impetus to quicken is all the Aries action off to the side. Fiery, fresh energy. Bold moves from Saturn entering Aries, coming together with Neptune at the starting block of the zodiac ~ the rebirth point ~ the first degrees of Aries. This is big.

Ordinarily Gemini is no stranger to mental stimulation. Its agile mind bends naturally and easily, absorbing vast amounts of information and data, processing content and sharing it. Disseminating it. Spreading the word and ideas like its life depends on it.

But how about your mind? How are you handling your information overload? All too much? Jupiter has been travelling through the Gemini airstream for the past year (departing for Cancer on 10 June). Jupiter makes everything feel bigger and while I’m sure it’s been expanding your mind brilliantly, you might also be feeling like your brain is about to blow. Like you’re constantly behind the times and playing catch up. This injection of Aries energy could be the shot in the arm you need. The cosmos delivers when we can handle it and Gemini season is the perfect time to try something new.

Have faith you can cope with some speeding up.

Your Intentional Attitude

No more waiting for your dreams to find you. Waiting for the magic day when the stars align and you’re rescued from your life. Saturn has arrived in Aries.* Courage up, put your confident face on and show your serious side.

Saturn in Aries is the intervention we’re ready to have. Since March 2023 it’s been wrapping its rings around Pisces, doing a beautiful job of inspiring us to do our deep soul work, pay attention to our creative visions and apply our imagination where it’s needed. But my god, hasn’t it been easy to lose momentum when our pace slows down or feel disillusioned when the end result doesn’t match our desired outcome?

Aries will have none of that. Its instinctual ‘me’ centred approach gives it the self-determination and motivation to power on regardless. The future is for later, what matters is the present. So Aries doesn’t worry about ruffling feathers or what everyone else is doing, or what anyone else will think ~ its point is to focus on what it needs and wants to happen now. This lends Aries a whole lot of authority. A sense of self-possession, assertiveness and confidence. Because if you’re an initiator, you also have a leading edge. Enviable huh?

Kind of. But initiators need a plan of action too, and to see it through. To lead effectively we want to get past the conceptual stage ~ ie out of our living room ~ and commit to some actual moves. To do this we need to take ourselves seriously.

This is Saturn’s role. It gives us the guidelines to get real about where we need strengthening and where we might need extra support. Those rings you see circling Saturn are its scaffolding, its protective boundary keeping its energy close. And that’s what Saturn offers us ~ the scaffolding to keep us upright, and just enough containment and limitation to see where our gaps are, where we might need firming up and where we mightn’t be giving enough. And that can be tough.

Where do you need to start showing up for yourself?

Wherever Saturn in Aries shows up in your birth chart it’s asking you to get serious about an area in your life that can’t continue effectively without your active participation. Check your chart for the Aries ram horn symbol. Honestly, it’s where you’ll find you have the most agency.

Aries is all about the self, so Saturn’s teaching is to literally be here for yourself. Being your own advocator and very best boss, modelling good grace, patience and perseverance to achieve what you want. Consolidating self-beliefs that will make your decision-making stronger and inspire you to look long-term and go the distance because you have the courage to face what’s ahead.

For all of us born with Saturn in Aries in our birth charts, we’ll be Saturn returning within the next two years. That’s seriously reality checking our ability to embody our own authority. Knowing all about it if we hand our power over to other people and situations. Clearly saying no where we need to and being willing to let some things go. Discovering where the gaps in our foundation lie and what happens when we paper over the holes. We’ll be showing up and growing up, assuming responsibility for what we can handle and dealing with what we can’t.

That’s for you second Saturn Returners born between March 1967 and May 1969, and for you first-timers if you were born between April 1996 and June 1998. You’ll already be feeling the shifts and wanting to get in preparation mode soon. Saturn fully respects your time and attention and will generously give back.

* Our 2025 experience of Saturn in Aries is a try out from 26 May till 1 September. Saturn then slips back into Pisces until 14 February 2026, then circles back to Aries for the real deal until 12 April 2028.

A Sensitive Transition

Recently I was reminded of the first line from the epic film Dune, ‘The beginning is a very delicate time’, spoken by wise Princess Irulan, who goes on to reiterate how ‘a beginning is the time to take the most delicate care that balances are correct’.

This speaks so much about Saturn’s bold rebirth from watery Pisces into fiery Aries. Although we might be bursting to push ahead, this isn’t the time to force our way forward but rather to pause and honour the moment, letting the transition unfold naturally.

We really have to because while Saturn in Aries would ordinarily get to work, creating boundaries, setting limits and actualising where it can, Saturn is first meeting with the surreal ~ Neptune, the most unreal, mystical, spiritual planet. So instead we want to consider these two very different archetypes, acknowledging we have a unique opportunity here.

The illusory and imaginal meet with the material world.

If we’re willing to trust ourselves, we can make something very special happen. Think about your wishes. How real can you make them? What are you doing to create them? Do you allow time and space for dream escapes, for the out of this world, for creativity, beauty? Saturn is the master manifestor. It’s so skilled at condensing matter into reality and every time we want to create something, we invoke its energy by setting goals for ourselves and committing to them daily. We can fantasise all we like but if we don’t become conscious and show up for the work, those dreams will drift away. Lost in the ether.

So use your visions as a guideline, a rope to hold you and propel you. Action them as a priority, a work in progress ~ a fact of life just yet to be realised.

And although it’s less fun, we also need to be honest with ourselves. Are you holding onto a wish that isn’t working? An ideal you can’t make right, no matter what you do? However hard it feels, you might find you’re ready soon to let that dream go, making way for something else to come through. A better, more complete fit for you. For a life that is you.

Think for Yourself

If you have strong Gemini placements in your birth chart (I’m talking to you my Gemini Moon and Black Moon Lilith), you’ll be very familiar with the feelgood rush of going down information rabbit hole after rabbit hole and then experiencing the buzzkill of an oversaturated, overstimulated mind. Eventually falling victim to the less helpful thoughts that creep in, the overthinking, overanalysing, expending way too much energy on thoughts that don’t need your attention.

When endless curiosity and hyper focus leads to any level of anxiety it’s time to place some limits on our thinking. Aries has an excellent relationship with Gemini, and Saturn is here to help. It will restructure our attention because we have a responsibility to show up mindfully and concentrate on what truly deserves our consideration.

Your brain needs your presence.

I’ve been flirting with the ‘Let Them, Let Me’ theory, featured in Mel Robbins’ book The Let Them Theory. In a nutshell, this involves recognising that people have the right to say, think and do what they will (because they always will), and taking responsibility for your reaction only. It doesn’t mean you don’t care, but as she writes, ‘You can’t control what is happening around you, but you can control how you respond to it.’

Haven’t you heard that a million times already? Actually putting it into practice is something else, and not worrying about other people’s attitudes, opinions and criticisms, or trying to control them, has been so freeing and liberating for me. Note, this doesn’t apply to our children because they need our guidance and we’re entirely responsible for their welfare, but for adults, well, they’re allowed to think for themselves. Even if you don’t like it ~ you being concerned about it is taking up way too much of your time.

We have so much more agency than we think. We each have such great potential and getting involved in everyone else’s thought complexes is essentially unhelpful (for them) and unproductive (for you). We could be concentrating on what’s right in front of us ~ our lives ~ and protecting our own precious nervous systems and resources (and respecting everyone else’s). Ultimately freeing us up to be more supportive, encouraging and loving human beings. Engaged and present for honest, genuinely supportive and meaningful interactions.

Your Gemini New Moon

Here’s to a brilliant New Moon popping off with possibilities, with you in the centre as a very bright spark, appearing in the light of your life.

Gemini’s mentally energetic ruler, Mercury, is switched on high on one side of the Moon with the Sun on the other, so you’ll be thoroughly tuned in to your thought processes and sensitive to your surroundings, intensely aware and taking it all in. How you feel and react will depend so much on your outlook because how we respond to everything depends on our state of mind.

Adjust your vision if it’s too much, especially if you need quiet to feel and hear. But you can also be curious, placing yourself in the middle where the activity is all happening. Where you can turn the engagement dial up or down, depending on the level of participation you can manage. Just know, the world really is interested in what you have to say and share.

Promise you’ll be part of the conversation. Reach out and talk it out with people who elevate you and uplift you. Or at least be part of your internal conversation with supportive reflection. How you respond now and how willing you are to be open can lay a healing foundation for your future self-talk and perceptions.

I’ll leave you with this inspiration:

‘Instructions for living a life. Pay attention. Be astonished.
Tell about it.’
